    Course Records:
  • Male Overall: Wayne Stanley - 15:14 (1992)
  • Female Overall: Leah Thorvilson - 17:02 (2012)
  • Male Masters: Tom Aspel - 15:52 (1996)
  • Female Masters: Jean Hollander - 20:35 (1994)

Course Description

The race starts on a paved trail within the Bona Dea Wildlife Sanctuary. Runners will stay on these trails throughout the race. The course forms a large loop before gradually making its way out of the forest and back to the Bona Dea Trailhead area for the finish line. With no roads to cross, there is little outside distraction for the runners. It is a flat course which oftens yields PR times due to the typically cool weather.

Sweetheart Competition

A special feature of the Valentine's Day 5K is the chance to team up with a sweetheart for additional prizes! Runners have the option of entering with their spouse in the Married Sweethearts Division, or teaming up with a "friend" in the Unmarried Sweethearts Division. The finishing times for the two Sweethearts will be added together to compete against other couples' composite times. The Sweetheart competition is in additional to the male/female individual races and does not affect an individual's time, placing, or award in the overall race.
