Who are the top consecutive Grand Prix race runners and how many have they run? I know Milligan(who the iron man award should be renamed for) has everyone lapped but what about after him. I think Eugene and another of his teammates have long streaks. My streak is 34 but will end in two races when I miss Run the Line. Gideon is at 32 but gets to skip the long races due to his age.

As for the women, looks like Elise Atta is way ahead of everyone else with around 25 straight. Hope may be second with 16 straight but she gets to skip longer races.

Dale Burns put up 60 straight over three IM seasons from 2004-2006. These included his own race, Brickfest, formerly a Grand Prix tradition and always the first brutally hot race of the season.

I think Joe is over 100 and counting. Eugene may be around 60 now.

here were the numbers before the Spa

By my count, Joe will have 144 consecutive races after the Spa. If you add John Miller (47), Gideon Drake (31) & me (60) together, we still won't equal what Joe has done!!!! A record that is unlikely ever to be equaled - a truly amazing display of longevity & determination!

so add one for everyone; Alise has 24. Mike Bonnette had a streak of 72 by my count before he moved to Louisiana.

By my count, Elise currently has the longest streak by any female Grand Prix runner. The previous longest streak was by Andrea Murphy/Sieczkowski who was an Ironwoman back in 2007.

Also, Dan "the man" Belanger ran off a streak of 42 consecutive races starting in 2006, missed a couple and then had another streak of 32 races. And Jacob Wells had a streak of 28 consecutive races and was an Ironman in my first ironman season back in 2005. I still have that picture on the wall in my den.

Just curious, how many want to go out on a limb and admit they are planning to run in all the Grand Prix races this year?

Hard to believe that Joe is on his 8th year and counting. He needs to write a book on how to stay injury free.

I planned that neither I nor my kids would iron this year. I'm dong the Lost Dutchman Marathon in AZ on Feb. 19th so I know my streak will end that day. The kids may end up talking me into doing the rest of the series so they can Iron again, but as of right now we plan to skip a few of the later in the year races. It will depend on how they are doing in the standings and if they are all excited about the races.

If ever there were anyone who needs to sign up for a free athlinks account it is joe Milligan. I was wanting to see how your races compare over the years since you have run so many of the same races but was surprised to see you have not signed up. Do it so all your races can be seen together and we can all gaze in wide wonder.

Joshua, I doubt if my past racing history would be of interesting to very many people. The only thing anyone would probably wonder about is why this person runs in so many races! Speaking of running in races, I do run in a lot of races. Over the last 4 years I have probably averaged about 30-35 per year. I always try to run a few each year that I have never done before. This last year I ran the Athens Big Fork Marathon, the Cadron Trail Run, the DeGray Lake Trail Run, the Mighty Bluebird 5K, the St. Vincent Tour De Paul 5K, the Mt. Magazine 15K, and the Ogden Marathon for the first time.

There are a lot of other Grand Prix runners out there that run in a lot of races each year. One in particular is fellow Ironman Nicholas Norfolk. Last year he ran in 50 races. Now thatís something to gaze in wide wonder about.

Agreed that Nick had a remarkable year and persevered in spite of some injuries. I would definitely read a Milligan-authored tome on how to avoid injuries not to mention schedule conflicts.

I am not going for Iron again this year but won't rule that out for the future. :-)

Joe,
I disagree with you about your racing history. I use Athlinks and really suggest it for any runner with more than 2 races to their credit. It would be very interesting to many to see your history.

I agree with David. Joe knows he has bested me at many a race and is at least a few years older than me so I'm impressed with all he does. Once nice feature of athlinks.com is you can make a person a "rival" and compare your lifetime head to head results. I keep a careful watch of mine vs. Michael Harmon.

I am something like 1 to 150 against Kim in races less than a marathon (finally nipped him at the River City 5K this year - he never knew what hit him.) But we're 12-12 in marathons with my ten straight, and seven last year. I can talk that guy into anything. Laughing
