When completing your registration for CCC this year, please consider making an additional donation to central Arkansas's Girls on the Run council.

We are working hard to bring this program to the area, but start up costs are significant. ANY donation amount helps and will be very much appreciated!

If you are not familiar with the program, I encourage you to check out the national website www.girlsontherun.org or contact me.

The stated mission of the program is to "...inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience based curriculum that creatively integrates running."

What that looks like is twice weekly meetings of third through fifth grade girls in which they complete lessons that creatively incorporate running (i.e. running games). These girls aren't out on the track doing quarters, but they are running and many will fall in love with the sport. Those that don't still become "not afraid" of it and learn that they can achieve more than they ever thought possible. The lessons train the girls to complete a 5k at the end of the season. Most of all, though, these girls are learning that they are important; they are valuable; they are strong.

Whether you are a women who was once a girl, a parent of girls, a guy who has a sister, or just a dude that knew some chicks once in high school, you can agree that every girl could use those lessons.

Each of you has undoubtedly become a more confident person through your running. Can you imagine how great an impact a program like this can have? It is sucessfully run in over 200 cities across the country and northwest arkansas has a thriving council.

I could go on and on. If you'd like to hear more please PM me, email me at jjpaul4@gmail.com or call 501-615-5733.

As I said, ANY amount is appreciated. There is a section on both the printable form and online registration.

Don't feel limited by the suggested amounts. And, if you've already registered, we'll be at the race and packet pickup happy to receive any additional donations.

See you in a few weeks and THANKS in advance for your support!
