At Brickfest this year, between the 1 and 2 mile markers, this guy just a short way behind me began gagging and hacking something awful. I knew if he could just pull over and get it all out Mr. Puke he'd be much better. But, no. He kept on running and near-puking for five or so minutes. When we got to the 2-mile water station, he came up behind me (I had to slow down for the water). It was The Duck. Shocked He'd swallowed a huge fly inhaling. rolling eyes: A cup of water washed the think down and off BH went (after all, Ducks eat bugs, right?). Out of pity Wink , I let him take the lead ahead of me and get the extra two GP age-group points. Yeah, that's my story: out of pity! And I'm sticking to it! :P

It would have offended my sense of geometry and theology if you had not. :)

I figured it would, Hollowell. So I stepped up to the plate when others (Murph) began slacking and looking for water.

Though it nearly caused my valve to close, you communiss. :)

I seldom puke after a race, but I will have to give props to the Hogeye Marathon.

I think it was '89 or '90, and it was extremely hot. I started feeling woozy around mile 22, but managed to get all the way to the finish before the pipes let go. I had to stop the car on the way back to the hotel, then had to dash into the lobby restroom at the hotel. I also got quarter size blood blisters on each foot.

You can read all about it in my upcoming book Why I Will Never Run Hogeye Again.... I tip my hat to you

My good friend and fellow marathon fanatic Rick Franks referred to Hogeye upon completion as being moved from the "To Do" list to the "Don't be Fooled Again" list.

It's a "Don't Miss" for me. I just wish it was 24 miles long. I took a little break down in that dip below the beer stand and barfed while the college students at the top of the hill cheered.

MB, have you gotten to run both the old course and the new one? How are they different if you have?

Also, I'd like to give props to my old teammate Steve Baker on his record on the old course. He ran 2:28.74 in 1979, for comparison, that is only 8 minutes slower than the 2-person relay record set by Mike Clark (another old teammate and sub 4 minute miler) and Ron Troutman -- and only 5 minutes slower than the 4 person relay record (also run by some former Hogs, including the great Randy Reina).

Where was this when we needed it at the finish line?

This is an actual can of Vom Sorb, probably purchased in the 1970s that is still on hand and used when needed at a local elementary school. They missed a promotional opportunity by not including "30 Year Supply!" on the can.

This is that stuff that always looked like peanuts to me that they spread all around whenever somebody puked in school.

Actually, it says it is only to be used for "unexpected sickness" and thus, would probably not qualify for my marathon episodes, which border on expected.

I have run both courses several times. The new course is definitely more difficult. Lots of ups and downs on the new course, w/the aforementioned worst coming around M24 just below the Fleet Feet tent. Old course was relatively (for NWA) flat, w/only one real climb.
