(For previous year threads, see: 2009, 2008)
and 14.2 miler
I don't even think I have to put any content here. Ask anyone who's been there and they'll tell you that Tupelo is one of the most beautifully unique races they've ever experienced. The place to be on the Sunday before Labor Day is Tupelo, Mississippi.

But Jesse, Tupelo is such a small town! I mean, if Elvis wasn't born there, who would have ever heard of it?!
You maybe correct, my italicized friend. But it's an experience like no other. Plus, you get a metric assload of McDonald's hamburgers at the finish (and a shot of coconut rum too, if you know the right people). Beat that, you impersonal, assembly line, corporate sellout RnR marathons!

If your interest is piqued, read the previous year's threads. Read the rave reviews. Observe the pictures. I don't think it's possible to NOT have a good time at this race (unless you get swine flu. Love you Rupp!)

If you having knee problems, I feel bad for you son. I got 99 problems and not going to Tupelo ain't one.

Confirmed list for Tupelo (as of July 28):

Alison Acott
Mary Acott
Eric Bain
Dan Belanger
Raj Bhanot
Annette Blanton
Arland Blanton
Daniel Butler
Carl Carter
Paula Cigainero
Jackie Clinton
Craig Clune
Scott Eason
Jared Friemel
Jesse Garrett
Kristen Garrett
Sassy Gattin
Charles Gattin
Michael Harmon
Kim Howard
Becky Humes
Alea Humes
Davy Insell
Missy Key
Lisa Luyet
Frank Massingill
Judy Massingill
David McCormick
David Meroney
Jessica Osorio
Gabby Peoples
Joel Perez
Steven Preston
John Russell
Polly Russell
Michelle Rupp
Nick Shaver
Stacey Shaver
Pete Tanguay
Mark Thompson
Leah Thorvilson
Jacob Wells
Sparticus the Wonderhorse
Jana Young
Jonathan Young
Rob Young

But wait, that's not all!

Ever wanted to do three races... In three states... In three days? Me either, but last year Presto was pokin' around with race calendars on the Internet and figured out a way to do it, and some of us were dumb enough to follow him. Welp, by the time it was over, a third of us were injured, a third of us swore we'd never do that again, and half of us wanted more.

But Jesse, that math doesn't add up!
Don't bother me with details! Leave me alone!

Anyway! Whether we were injured or not, we wouldn't trade the experience for anything. And we got a pretty cool t-shirt out of the deal. So, in true runners' fashion in not learning from the mistakes of the past, I announce:

3 in 3 in 3, 2010 edition! (2+0+1+0 = 3. FREAKY.)

Oh yes.

Saturday, September 4: The ARK 5K Classic in North Little Rock, AR (Register here)
Sunday, September 5: The Tupelo Marathon/14.2 Miler in Tupelo, MS Too late!
Monday, September 6: The Chick-fil-A 5K in Memphis, TN (Register here)

Be there, or be sensible!

That's right, Daniel. The sass-a-flash was born there. And of course Leah ran a PR that day too.

I am starting to feel some Tupelo in my blood and it's only March.

So let me see if I understand this correctly.......
From left to right it's "kicker of ass" and "sass a flash" ?

¡Ah, una pregunta excellente, Señor Young! I'm so amped up for Tupelo I almost forgot about that. (For all curious, see last year's thread)

I have heard many people express interest in doing or re-doing the 3 in 3 in 3. We just have to find and agree upon a race for Monday (that is outside of Mississippi or Arkansas)! The Chick-fil-A 5K hasn't updated their website yet, but the Memphis Runners Track Club has it on their calendar, so we'll see whether it happens again. There is a nice looking 5K/10K happening in Franklin, TN on Labor Day, but it's a 4 hour drive away from Tupelo and a 6 hour drive away from Little Rock. I'm sure other races will pop up from now until then.

There will be a fair amount of us who don't repeat it though. I will be wherever you all will be if you choose to do it again, but I'm only running Tupelo this time around.

Flood of Dan Pictures incoming, oh noooo!

5k in Lawrenceburg, TN on Labor Day -- less than three hours from Tupelo and about 5 hours to Little Rock. But I think we have to be careful about what race we pick. They may not be ready for us in some of these rurual TN counties.

A change in venue may have to be voted and approved by the 5 families. Come on, free Chick-fil-a with shredded legs, 102 degree temp and watching Burninating the Countryside! throw out the first pitch...PRICELESS!

102 degree temp and about 1000 runners jam packed at the finish line trying to find a pencil & card to write their name on & only one small stairway leading out. Worst dang finish line in my history of racing! But i'll be there if that's where we all go! I do love Memphis.

i vote chick-fil-a for the 3rd race...selfishly, because I don't plan to run the 3rd race and don't really want to travel FARTHER from LR post marathon....but that is just one vote of the 40-50+ Arkansans who I expect will be going to Tupelo this year...
